Help! Camera photo / live view on my laptop

Hi guys, hope my heading is right for what I am asking. Ok so soon I will be having my own home studio set up to take pictures of the kids etc but wanted to know can I sync my canon 600d to my laptop screen. I.e I take a photo and 1 sec later it's on my pc? What lead do I need and what software. I know some may say just take the SD card out but wanted to see straight away to make sure I got the right shot.

Canon Eos Utility which comes bundled with your camera will let you shoot tethered like that. I don't know the 600d but you should just need a USB lead long enough.

Or Lightroom...
I've used tethered shooting for demonstrations with the settings and results projected on the wall behind me.
Works with a standard USB lead.

If you need more range, then search Amazon for "active usb extension"; I have one of these giving me up to 20m of freedom

Another option I've not tried is an EyeFi card.
