Before I do anything rash I thought Id ask

Ive got a Canon D50 fitted with a BG03 grip. The thumbwhell for the grip seems to have come off the spindle and is now spinning freely thus the grip cant be removed form the camera.

This is not causing a problem at present but will do if I ever need to sell or take the grip off.

Has this happened to anyone before and if so what did they do ?

My 1st thoughts were to have a hack myself but I dont want to risk damaging, 2nd thought was off to a dealer to see if they can sort it.

Any thoughts or help gladly accepted.

Same happened to me with a cheap ebay grip - had to hacksaw it off a nearly new D90 - see the pic below.
There was no other way of getting it off - tried disassembly with it on the camera - not gonna happen!

I didnt need to remove yet but I didn't want it stuck on there so off it came.
Good luck!

Thanks for the responses, seems its not uncommon then.

The grip is a original bg-e2n albeit 2nd hand. My camera is only 7mths old so I will keep it where it is for now until I can pluck up the courage to get the saw out. I might contact a canon dealer and see what he says.

Cheers
