Hi

I'm a little concerned, every photo which I take with or without flash, two very tiny white specs can be seen on dark clothing or a black black ground. I've taken the photos of a plain background and the tiny marks stay.

I've looked at the lens and this is pristine, no marks at all.

I've hardly taken the lens off the camera and it has always remained in my Lowepro bag when not in use.

What does this mean and can it be fixed. Camera is still under warranty, should I send it back?

:(

Is it not just dust spots?
Have you got a rocket blower?
Give the sensor a clean and see how it is, plenty previous posts how to do this, or try youtube if your'e not sure

I've not got a rocket blower, may need to invest in one to check to see if it is dust, if it is dead pixels then it will have to go back.

I look after my equipment as if it is a baby, a little surprised when I saw this.

Dust won't be white. It's dead pixels. Live with or clone them out. I'm not sure warranty covers it. Not that small amount anyway

Lightroom is pretty good for dealing with dead and hot pixels. Once it knows where they are it will deal with them automatically - if you blink as the photos are imported you won't even see the white dots.

Theres a way for you to get the camera to recognise and bypass them on the newer Canons, cant remember exact procedure but it involves leaving body cap on and going to manual sensor clean in menu.

Is this it? It's the first I've ever heard of it but it sounds like a good idea - according to the comments it worked for someone's 550D. Worth a try for sure.

Leave a body cap on and put it in manual clean, leave it for about 30 seconds.

It may or may not map out the dead ones.

Canon wont necessarily replace the sensor but will probably remap it like they did with my refurb 1d3 when I complained.

Thank you everyone for the advice, will try this and see if it sorts it, otherwise I will see if the extended warranty is worth what I paid for it. ;)

Thanks for this, tried this, unfortunately it did not work. Who did you complain to? Was it Canon customer services? I think because I'm in the extended warranty period, it may be with D&G through Jessops.

Most bodies should automatically map out dead pixels after a while.

Yes thats the method, I'v seen youtube vids a while back as well, on my phone here so cant search and link but they should be easy to find. Also repeat again for 60secs and cover the viewfinder to stop light entering the mirror box.

I've tried this, luckily as stated the specs do not show up in the actual photograph. Now to decide on a 5D ii or a iii for £1200 more!
