Hi
I went out today to the Lake District and sadly discovered upon arrival that my 17-55 f/2.8 IS started having some problems. When I zoom to around 40-55mm focal range, and the IS starts kicking in, the lens starts shaking around really quickly and makes a horrible loud rattling noise. If I turn the IS off, there isn't any problem at all so seems like it's definitely the IS.
Has anyone ever had this issue with this lens?
I bought it second hand and is out of warranty. To get it fixed, would I have to send it back to Canon and pay a big sum? Or could I take it to some place else?
Really gutted because I've been praising this lens so much, I'm off to Japan in 2 weeks, would like to have a full working lens by then.
Any advice appreciated,
Allen

), but I did have to get a repair to my 7D and used Lehmans, its under warranty of course, they turned it round in 2 days and were very pleasant to deal with.
