"HELP" Canon speed light only ttl, no ettl on 5dmkiii

Getting all my bags packed for tomorrow and my canon 600exrt x 2 on a 5dmkiii seems to possibly have a connection issue.

It is only giving me TTL most of the time, sometimes switch to ETTL without changing anything only by moving the camera around.

Also if i put my ST-E3-RT trigger I'm getting TTL ! TV

Have tried two 600 speed lights and the trigger on the 5D and getting the same thing.

However work fine on my 6D.......

Any ideas ladies and gents before i launch it out the window.

I suspect that one of the 5D3's hot shoe screws has come loose. Looking at the hot shoe, there's a plastic cover with a Taj Mahal shaped cutout for the pins. This can be slid out backwards if raised a little and you'll see the 4 retaining screws (JIC head)......give them a tweak.

Had see that after googling which didn't bring up much. Have tweaked them a little bit which does seem better.

Might be a day without flash tomorrow maybe on the 5d.

Service time maybe for this one.

My first 5D mk2 had a similar problem - retailer swapped the body over no questions. As Bob suggests it's almost certainly a loose connection in your hot-shoe. Also try cleaning the contacts on both flashes and shoe.
