Hi, i have tried connecting my PC to my TV, so i can view things (such as BBC iplayer) on a bigger and more suitable (poistion wise) screen.

I have plugged the SVGA cable from the PC in the PCinput on the TV. Although the tv recognises that there is a cable there, it says there is no signal, and just comes up with a blue screen.

Any Ideas?

For reference i have a samsung 26" TV!

Thanks in advanced
Matt

have you tried turning the pc off and back on again (worked with mine through a VGA port)

is it a laptop or a desktop? with a laptop you may need to enable the output using the function (Fn) keys otherwise it sounds like the SVGA output isnt switched on in the settings somewhere

You may have to select an alternative input for the TV.

If you look in the menu options you'll see something that states "input" or something like that. You'll probably find a setting which says "PC" . I have a JVC portable that has a PC input but you have to tell the electronics where to look for the signal

Thanks guys, i already tried turning it on and off, and already selected the PC input on the TV!
Thanks anyway!
If anyone else has got any ideas i would appreciate them!

May sound stupid but check that the lap top doesn't need to have the external monitor output turned on. I had an IBM think pad that you had to do that with.

The TV should have a source button e.g TV/AV or TV/VCR/SVGA.

Then right-click on desktop > Properties > Settings > make the 2nd monitor active, if necessary.

The PC could have the resolution set much higher than the TV can handle. Check the TV spec & drop the PC resolution to match then try it again
