Help - dead D90?

Hi folks, I need some advice. I have gone to use my D90 and the battery was flat - nothing unusual there, but after charging it the camera is still not showing anything on the display. I have a spare battery and charger and have tried them also - with the same result. The camera is not showing any signs of life at all :'(

Any suggestions or is it time to dig out the receipt and take it back to Jessops?
 
is it still under warranty? maybe a fault on the camera that need to send back to nikon for repair.
 
Hi Scott,

Sorry to hear your D90 is acting up. Does the picture remaining count show up on the top lcd? It should be there even with the camera turned off.

Take a look inside the battery housing and make sure that the middle of the 3 large pins hasn't been bent. It's the battery sense contact and if it isn't making good contact the camera thinks there's no battery fitted.

The contacts all looked fine. It's now gone back to the store and they're sending it away under warranty to be fixed - unfortunately it'll probably take between 3 to 4 weeks before I get it back :(

There was nothing on the display, the camera was completely dead. Still, on the bright side, at least its happened whilst its still covered!

Just FYI - I've found in the past it's actually quicker to send things back to Nikon directly - probably would give you a turn around of a week, 2 at most (depending on what the problem is)...
 
Thanks for that OutLore, I hope that I won't have to send it away again when it eventually returns, but I'll certainly keep it in mind if it ever needs anything doing to it again.
