Help! Filters stuck!

I've managed to get a 77mm CPL fastened tight onto a 77mm UV. :(

I've tried gripping the outside of the UV with large pipe grips and circling the non-twisty bit of the CPL with a bit of plastic-coated wire but it's stuck fast. :shake:

Any ideas please? :help:

This happened to me the other day with a lens I bought on ebay. I was nervous enough about the lens and the stuck filter made me jittery about what it may be hiding.

I googled and one of the suggestions was to reverse a rubber mouse mat, press firmly on the filter glass itself and attempt to turn gently.
Tried it, didn't seem to work and then suddenly the filter spun off the lens very easily.
 
The main problem was the CPL and it's rotating casing.
The tiniest amount of WD40 in conjunction with a rubber band for grip helped in the end. :o)

At least we'll know if someone else has the same problem....
