Help finding the right camera bag

Hi, I find myself needing a new camera bag due to my Lowepro slingshot proving to be a bit tight for what I need plus I have found myself not liking the slingshot type bag. I was thinking about maybe more of a messenger type bag this time.

Will mainly be carrying:

- Nikon D7000 with battery grip
- Nikon 70-300mm vr
- Nikon 35mm Prime
- Nikon 18-55mm vr
- Little SB400 Flash
- Few small bits and bobs

Any help appreciated.
 
Messenger bags look stylish, but they are completely impractical. Especially for lugging kit around all day.

I've just got a Lowepro Flipside 400 because I wanted something smaller than the Vertex 300 AW I use most of the time.

It comfortably takes a gripped D200 with a Tamron 28-75 and a separate Nikon 80-200 f2.8.

It's a bit of a snug fit, but I've just whipped the D200 out and replaced it with a gripped D700. That said, it still zips up without any extra persuasion.

It also has an integral raincover and fastentings to attach a lightweight tripod or monopod:

I think I also looked at the Pro-runner but it wasn't quite deep enough - 4.5" as opposed to 5.9"
 
I've got the lowepro stealth reporter 400aw, it's a great bag but a bit cumbersome at times to lug around, and it has so many pockets, I can never lay my hands on the bit of kit I want :lol:
I can get D7000, 70-300, 50mm prime, 18-55 kit, 10-20, sb900 into it, along with remote release, wired release, 4 cokin filters and holder, 4 circular filters, tissues, suncream, and my mobile.

I've had the lowepro fastpack 350 too, and it's really excellent and has room for a laptop
you should be able to get all the above in, as well as a bit of lunch!

however, both are a pain when you want something to carry your tripod too! So I'm looking at a flipside 300 or 400 for my next bag.

I will go along with Daniel with this one and recommend the Flipside 400AW, I carry a Canon 7D with 17-55mm attached along with 70-200mm and 10-22, sometimes a TC too

Room in the front for personal stuff, tripod storage and straps to attach a water proof along the top plus it has a waterproof cover tucked away. Also good that it unzips at the back for security reasons, also nice if you put it down to get gear out the bit that goes agains your back stays clean

Personally think its the perfect bag, great to carry with nice padded straps including the waist one, two drink bottle holders often come in handy too

Few cons now, wish the camera section was slightly easier to get at when fully unzipped, can't carry the tripod and use the waterproof cover and this is just me, don't find the dividers that easy to keep in place

All in all a great bag and haven't seen anything I would prefer, not even too pricy given the quality of this bag, sometimes see the dark green ones a bit cheaper.

I've got the smaller versions of the two bags mentioned above, and am very pleased with them both. They serve different purposes, though, and I find the backpack type very useful for traveling and for lugging gear into the mountains or other out=of-the-way places.

The Stealth Reporter series is more traditional...square, roomy and a bit bulky. It is nice, though, if I'm out driving around with camera and a bit of kit because everything is so accessible.
 
Lots of available bags look good, but I I have found the backpack to be the most comfort if you are using it for any length of time. I've bought, tried and discarded number of bags over the past few years(much to my wife's annoyance!), and I always come back to a backpack. My favourite of all is the first one that I bought - the Lowepro mini tracker!
For longer periods away I also use a Thinktank- can't remember the name right now, but it is the one that is the right size to take on board aircraft as hand luggage.:)
 
I use a Lowepro Pro Runner 450AW and love it. It is HUGE and holds lots so I have to be careful or it weighs a bit. Having said that, it is very comfortable to carry, the harness has been well thought out with plenty of adjustment and padding.
The bag is perfect because I carry plenty of gear when out and about, I have a smaller Lowepro Versapack 200AW when I want to travel lightly.
Like every Lowepro bag I have ever had, the Pro Runner is really well made and competitively priced.
If I didn't use the Pro Runner I would seriously consider the Tamrac Expedition 8 or 9X as they look very good too.

Well I ignored all the kind advice in this thread and ended up ordering a Lowepro Classified 200aw in Sepia.

Hopefully will do the job if not it can be returned and I will have a look at another look at the others mentioned in this thread. Thanks for the advice.
