Im trying to do something nice for a pensioner who is a really nice guy. He is 83 and lost his wife a couple weeks ago and is really struggling. He was showing my girlfriend some pics of his family that have long since died and to be honest the pictures are a mess. I thought Id try and clean some up for him with photoshop as a suprise but I know some of you guys are great at this kinda stuff. These are what Ive been able to do and Im quite happy with the first but not the 2nd. If anyone has the time to do this Im sure he would really appreciate it. At the minute we are really just trying to do what we can so any help would be great. Thanks for any help

In this one he was actually only 15

I think you have done a pretty good job, the thing I notice is the last pic looks a little contrasty and has some noise, I tweeked these a bit.

Thanks alot for helping. I had a try at getting rid of the noise without losing detail but couldnt get it quite right.

John i think you've done a great job on the first one, its really cleaned up nice, and its got clarity. But did you not like the tint? I think it fits the picture for the time personally, the edits look like they could of been taken anytime if that makes sense.

Good editing by both of you though,

Adey

To be honest I wasnt sure to leave it with the tint or not. It just seemed cleaner converting it to b&w but I'll probably do him a couple versions anyway and see which appeals the most.

John, can you email or upload the original images somewhere? to do this right it would require some high res images to work with!

I'd say with looks a lot truer somehow. I'd doubt that they were pure BW (in the modern sense) at birth.

^ what he said. Can you get the scans hosted somewhere and then PM the details please? :)

If you send me your email via pm I'll send you a copy of the original sized pics. Thanks
