I believe my 24-70mm Canon lens has developed lens fungus, **** shows up against light areas at F22. A few months ago after walking in the cold to my club i lent the lens and camera for the night to another member to take shots of the portrait night.

Later he came back saying the images were all misty, it turned out it was inside the lens. When i got it home i dried it out slowly at room temperature, today when we checked it has a spiderwork network of threads from the top of the lens, on checking it seems it has fungus a not uncommon problem.

Has anyone encountered this before ? how did you deal with it,and was it expensive to treat ? Any info gratefully received.
 
Hi, I have it in a old lens.
Was told to leave it in a sunny window,did this for a year :nuts: No improvement.
Was told mister muscle will deffo get rid of it.LOL.:naughty:

Well, it is still there and will be there till I send it for service,:eek:bit dear for a old lens.

Do not put it near or store with other lenses.

Cost is something that concerns me, havent seen sunshine since march. :'(
 
It needs cleaning. Personally, I would probably have a go myself, but other (more sensible people) would send it for repair.
 
Ta for the replies all, Leigh i hope your tower melts :) . Ive added an photo of said Lurghi, must admit i would not have the confidence to strip a lens down.

Its definitely internal, and i believe it may have been there when i bought the lens annd only showed recently, At F2.8 its invisible and only shows at F16 +
 
Just an update, it is fungus and is in for cleaning, will let you know how it goes.
