I am having another senior moments (far too many these days). I am thinking of rationalising my lenses as I suspect there are some that rarely get used. To help with this I want to sort out photos in my library into the various lenses they were taken with. I know this can be done as I have done it once before but I simply cannot remember exactly how. I think it is a filter but I cannot find any way to get it to work.

Would some kind sole please give me some simple instructions as to how I do this.

Many thanks

What do I say but a sincere thank you to pwhysall and Foxbat Flyer.

I knew it would be easy but I just could not remember how.

My appreciation to you both. Looks like I have some more videos to watch.

The filter can be set up on Metadata so that the exact lenses are filtered - a tad easier than a text search.

Another way to do it would be to use Smart Collections. Just set one up for each lens you are interested in. This is a bit more lasting than the filter method and the collections are automatically updated when you add new images.

Easy - )
Click on Library.
Then in catalogue click on "All Photographs"
Now at top of screen above the images click on "Metadata" and it will show you the statistics for all lenses.

Lightroom Analytics is a useful tool, it will provide a graphical depiction, in a pie chart format, of the meta data, more details from http://lightroomanalytics.com/

Chris

Thanks for that link - very useful plug-in and analysing my last 6 months worth of photos made for interesting reading (for me, my stats would probably be incredibly dull reading for anyone else - but their own stats could obviously be of interest though!).

Wow, I've used 22 camera models in the last 5 years :o I need to get out more.

28 in the past 2 years not counting multiples of the same model. :$

In my defence, the majority were taken with either my 5D or 6D or my original a200. I also appeared to have tried 17 mirrorless models (that worked out well then lol), an SLT (as per mirrorless) and a Sigma SD9 (those Foveon colours!).
