Hi

I am going to Brazil, the Pantanal to be precise in july for 3 months to help at an Eco Lodge.

I currently have:
40d
100-400mm
10-20
50mm
90mm macro

Can anyone tell me what else i should take. Budget under £1000. Perhaps something that is good for portrait and landscape if i sacrificed the 10-20mm.

Thanks

Luke

Will you be taking a pc or some sort of backup device with a screen?

How about some means by which you can check for sensor contamination and carry out a clean?

Other than that how about a small back up camera like an LX3 or GF1?

Have a great time! :)

The obvious gap is a decent walkabout zoom, and the obvious best choice for your budget is the wonderful 17-55 2.8.

Do you really need that big 100-400L? 70-300 IS is very good and far more portable.

Back up camera is a very sensible idea. Either a decent compact or spare DSLR body, actually I'd take both. 450D is good and cheap. Swapping the 100-400L would free up a lot of budget.

How about a grip and a shed load of batteries in case you can't get a reliable lecky supply.

Flashgun(s), off camera lead (Jessop's do one, cheaper than Canon, quality? might suffer in Brazil) and bracket might be worth having.
the 50 and the 90 should be good for landscape and/or portrait on that body.
Lightweight monopod.
