Hi guys - i'll make it short and sweet.
I have a college summer project to create a ghost image(s)

Which one out of these three would you say is the best.
Remember I don't want these images to be perfect or it will look fake!

they're nice and different , well done !

#1 for me , i reckon the disused building in the background gives it the edge

I may sumbit all 3 images as a series. - extra points! ? :p
 
Either one or two . . . although the setting in the first just edges it. There's not enough background in the third one to give it enough context for me.

What would really give it some punch though would be if you could get hold of some Victorian style clothing for your model to wear.
 
Yeh I tried to do that and also tried to get a full highland kilt dressing. however I only had one week to try out these things. There really wasn't enough time or planning!
 
One or two for me. Although this is completely nitpicking, I think the grain in picture two looks a bit too digital? Just a thought. All three are cracking though (y)

It was all taken around 11pm at night.
You need 3 people for this shoot.
1model
1lighting assistant
1 photographer


It was about a 30 second exposure at f.11 ...high ISO.
Tri-pod needed!

Get your focus however you like it,slightly off perfect focus can be nice.
Position the model.
I was the runner ( lighting assistant).
I got my dad to press the shutter whilst covering the lens with a black piece of card ( so nothing recorded whilst I was running around with my flash gun.

So basically ;

Position model
Stand 8ft + from model with flash gun pointing at the model with a piece of black card covering the flash gun so there would be no starting point to the light from the gun.

So shutter down,black card over lens
Runner shouts 1,2,3...black card is relieased...i shoot flash at model....black card is replaced so nothing else is recorded....model runs out of frame,runner moves over frame of selected location whilst shouting 1,2,3 black card is released ...flash...do this several times over your area.

Shutter closes.

Image is done!

#1 for me too. the others look manufactured.... even though they are! :D
 
Well thanks for the in depth description, I would never of thought so much work went into it.
Results are well worth it though.
