Yes
Well, that's what I know it as. I saw it described somewhere and I can not remember it. As far as I know it is a (man-made?) pool of water that has been coloured blue through contamination somewhere around Flash in the Staffordshire Moorlands between Leek and Buxton.

Can anyone help here as I'd like to go a shoot it up over the weekend (weather permitting)

No, not that far out. I've seen shots but can't place it :-/

I know there's one in Oz that turns cobalt blue

Your best bet is google earth mate, you should soon spot it if you know roughly the area and the water is coloured....I speak from experience, being a carp fisherman and spending hours looking for new waters

Ive been to the one near Barmouth Wales, & know of one near poole & 1 on top of the horseshoe pass. Never heard of a local 1 but would love to find out if there is 1.

Well doing what BigRuss suggested, it's not the Blue Lagoon at Harpur Hill is it? :) Link

http://www.bluejohn-cavern.co.uk/ owt to do with the blue john mines?

nowt to do with blue john..

But if you google "blue lagoon buxton" you'll find it - probably one of several in the area I'd imagine. Blue staining is quite common in quarry pools. A limestone quarry has the advantage of the stone itself reflecting light within the pool as well.

AH yes seen this on Google earth, and on Deviant or flickr a image of a girl in the pool.

Read, apparantly, that people shouldn't really get into it as it's mixed with chemicals or something sciency / geological.

In other words, next to Harpur HIll.

Given the history of Harpur Hill I'd definitely give a miss to actually getting in the water..

Water in flooded slate quarries becomes incredibly vivid Cyan if that helps....

Oh, I think I remember going to the place you're describing. It's a series of circular flooded clay pits surrounded by woodland, yeah? It's going to bug me if I don't remember what the place is called...

Actually, scratch that. The one I'm thinking of is down south. On the plus side it's not bugging me anymore.

there is a pool near to the Mermaid Inn at Morridge between Leek and Buxton which is suppose to be bottomless etc

just drop some Harpic in the village duck pond, does the same trick

seem to remember this was featured on BBC countryfile a while ago and i wanted to find it but i cant for the life of me remember where it is.

Wasn't it on Secret Britain? I seem to remember it was mid Wales.

Just found this.

"The Blue Lake is a lagoon in the old Goleuwern Slate Quarry above Fairbourne. It is accessed by foot only through a dark, wet tunnel.

Directions
From Fairbourne Station cross the level crossing, go past the church and when you reach the main road turn right towards Tywyn. After about ¼ mile, when you reach the BT Telephone Exchange, follow the turning opposite into the hills. After passing several houses eventually you reach a 5 bar gate and stile on the right hand side (to see Panteinion Waterfall carry straight on ). Follow the steep track up the hill and take the right hand fork under the stone bridge. Pass under the second bridge and when the terrain allows ascend to the plateau. This area offers excellent views of Cardigan Bay. Look for the tunnel (always wet underfoot) and pass through to get access to the lake."
