I basically bought it to do 1 thing, to stream music to my Hifi.

So, this is what i've done so far, I have:-

1 - Installed the CD
2 - Plugged in a cable (1/8 jack) into the back of the Airport Express and then the other end a Stereo jack into the back of my Amp (Marantz 6010KI).
3 - The iMac has asked me to join the Airport Express into my existing home network, which i've done.

But the light on the Airport Express stays flashing Amber :(

And I don't see the option in iTunes to let me choose if i want to send my music to the speakers (in the mac) or to the Airport Express, as stated in the manual.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

edit - nvm. fixed now.

if you get it working correctly.....please come and set mine up

it seems that if you use a windows pooter and an apple pooter and you don't have an apple router you're doomed to a lifetime of inactivity from the express. i tried and tried to get my devices to send files to my printer via the express.

Well, i haven't tried the printer yet, but what stumped me was because I had Mac Addy Filtering turned on. Put the ID of the Express into the router and it was all system go !

I have a netgear :(

I've actually removed the airport express as i simply won't do what I bought it to do, i've even defeated the object of having it by using a network cable on it.

is your lights constantly flashing amber?

Sorry to sounds stupid, but i guess you have put in the correct WPA password and mac address ID (if turned on), and tried having SSID being visible to see if it works?

If it can see it when first reset (like after you use a pen to press that button) then it's functioning, there is obviously something blocking it.

Before I got it working I got these messages

I keep getting this message after running the setup steps.

And then when i start airport utility again i get this message (as i found out later its because mac address filtering was on so it can't connect to it).

For it to see the express, i have to reset the Express with a paper clip. Press rescan won't find it.

I ask the Express to join the existing Network, not create a new one.

My Dad struggled to set his up when he got it, but we eventually got it working, they're tricky little things to set up!!!
