I am starting to slide over to the Darkside :( Weighing up a D750, 300mm and flashgun.Just a bit stuck on a smaller lens to purchase now.

Well a 50 was one option,just not sure if an intermediate zoom would be more beneficial for me for general stuff like the granchildren etc.
 
tamron 28-75 f2.8.....job done.
 
Unless you need the extra stop of DoF that an f/2.8 offers, the 24-120 f/4 would be my suggestion. The D750 can use any AF lens so even an old 50mm AF (pre D or G) screw driven lens will cover the shallow DoF and fast moving grandchildren when required (the old screw driven lenses are cheap as scraps if you can find one!)

The Tammy 28-75 is ,probably, the best value for money mid range zoom out there Rich.

Cheers Mark,yeh read some good reviews of the 85 1.8,just thinking a zoom is that much more versatile.Oh well I got a week or two to make up my mind anyhow.

Mug. So you'll not be needing my Sigma 800 then. Bargain missed and you'd have got the 105 chucked in for nowt:rolleyes:
 
Having always (well, in "modern times"!) been a Nikon man, all I can say is that it hasn't worked for me!!!

Sorry matey mate,on the plus side for me.I am going to stay with Frac for some private tuition :banana:
 
Rich a 28 - 105 f3.5/f4.5 around £150 used if you can find one is great value for money.

A bit heavier, but built like a tank is the 35 - 70 f2.8 used around £300.
