Help motor sport lens

Hi there, a couple of my friends are doing track day's and one is racing a week later, they have all offerd to pay me something if I get some good shot's.
Im not worrried about the money, I just want to get some nice shot's. What lens would you recommend I should get as I dont think that current one would be up to scratch.
Any suggestions would be great, got to be less than £300 as Im young and skint!

A Sigma 70-300mm should do the job nicely and cost you well below £300, mine cost less than £100 new.

I used one on my D50 for my first ever motorsport shoot with a DSLR, so this should give you a good idea of what it can do in less experienced hands...
