Ok Folks.

I HATE windows have done since I moved over to Mac. I own a Macbook Pro and a iMac I love them even my mother says they are fast.... My Macbook Pro is 2.5 years old and it still runs LOVELY and quick no trouble at all. My mother got a 2 years old packard bell which is Slow as a brick I have even formatted it and put os back on etc 3 month later it get slow again... This getting my mother nerve.... Today she asked me I want a new laptop shall i get a Macbook with a 13" screen and enjoy the speed or get a new Laptop 15" for about £500 and hope it does not slow down.

ALL she does is browse the net and send emails and some letters etc....

What you think she should do?

It not the internet that slow. it her laptop it takes 5 mins to boot up till she be able to do anything... Opening apps takes ages too

does it have decent av and malware protection? if not thatll probably slow it down a fair bit.

if its just used for internet then there should be no reason for it to slow down over that period of time.

Do you guys say it should be faster than what it actully is then for a 2ghz laptop.. Could be the crap celeron which I believe are slow?

granted celerons arent the best but it certainly shouldnt be taking 5 mins to boot no matter what it is.. and it wouldnt have any baring on it being reasonable then slowing down over time.

What is the reasonable speed for it to boot up etc... What AV software you suggest???

Since I am a Mac boy I am quite well behind on the Windows side of things.

I am sure it got 2gb of ram in it and plenty HD left

My laptop with XP Pro takes 35 seconds to boot to a useable state where my WI-FI dongle is recognised and ready to connect

AVG Anti virus free

:plusone: for Malware or Virus causing problems.

Malwarebytes have a good free program you should run to check your PC.
