Being the dumbass that I am, I've managed to lose the lens hood for my 300/2.8 NON IS.
It seems to have gone to party in the same place as my 2X extender, 20-35 lens and numerous lens and body caps and sundry other bits and pieces that have gon awol over the years.
A genuine Canon hood is insanely priced and a knock off is not much better (about A$800 on ebay) so I'm going to have a crack at making one from fibreglass.
From what I can work out, an IS version is the same size, so too is the hood from a 400 DO.
Can someone who has one of any of the above lenses please provide the dimensions, particularly the length and also the inside diameter.
The moral of the story...Guard your big lens hoods with your life.
