Hi all

I have the opportunity to pick up a good priced 24mm f/1.4L II today but this would mean sacrificing my 16-35mm f/2.8L II.

I got the 16-35 because I thought a zoom would help framing landscapes when 'foot zooming' isn't always possible.

However, I've since got the fisheye zoom which covers me for really wide, and I have a Zeiss 35mm f/2 for not-so-wide, so do you think with the

8-15mm
24mm f/1.4
35mm f/2

I'll have enough flexibility to ditch the 16-35?

I could put the 24mm f/1.4L II to other uses that the 16-35mm might not work for in addition to the landscape aspect.

Thanks

Phil

Tricky one.

If I'm reading it right you'd be loosing 16-24mm and 24-35mm from your range.

Personally I would miss the 16-24mm for landscapes but not so much the 24-35mm

I guess it's all down to how often you use that bit of your range.

In terms of having to sacrifice the 16-35mm lens to get the 24mm, could you stretch to picking up a 17-40 ?

How often would you have used the extra stops for shallower DoF? How often have you used 24mm on the zoom? Is there an appreciable (at normal print size) difference in IQ between the 24mm prime and the zoom at 24mm?

Thanks for the posts I decided to pick up the 24mm while I could. I will chew the options over and test it over the weekend before coming to a final decision.
