Hi everyone,
I read the recent posts about the redsnapper bag, and how folks were thinking of ditching their backpacks, in favour of the said bag, well I'm still thinking about a backpack as I think that the fact one can carry waterproofs & food etc. in the top compartment would outweigh the disadvantages. My problem is knowing which one to look for. I can only justify (read afford) a second hand one. My equipment is a Nikon D50 with the 18x55 kit lens, an 18x135, a 70-300vr, a Nissin flashgun and the usual chargers. I would also like room to carry either my 8x40 binos or my smaller 8x25s, and being realistic I suppose I should allow room in case I get a wide angle. So you see my problem? I don't want a big bag, but I realise it wouldn't make much sense buying one that is OK now only to find it is not big enough later. Any suggestions would be welcome and once I know what I want I can start to look in the classifieds.
Thanks

I'm having the same problem, its an endless search i'm afraid, at the moment i have narrowed it down to the Tamrac Adventure 6 camouflage, perfect for what i want at a price thats affordable.

I dont have massive lenses nor do i have battery grips or anything else too large, i prefer stealth photography and in doing so i keep my kit as minimal as possible, but like you, waterproofs and a sandwich box at the top with my kit in the bottom is ideal.

£44,not a bad price.

Hi Keith,
Thanks for your reply, I had a look at the Tamrac adventure 6 in Morris Photo in Chipping Norton on saturday, they only had a red one and I thought it looked a bit small. Jessops do one called Trek2 in black at £49.00 but that didn't look much bigger, although the camera section at the bottom was deep enough to take a 70-300 ( I couldn't try it in Morris's as they dont sell cameras) Like you though I would prfer a more non-descript colour or a camo one. I thought the classifieds would be full of them after reading about the redsnapper. We'll just have to keep looking I suppose unless someone else answers with a better idea.
Cheers
Ken

Well, i bought myself a Redsnapper yesterday, which arrived today, super fast delivery.

The bag is brilliant and perfect for what i want, holds my D90 with 18-105 VR attached, 12 filters, battery charger, tripod, cleaning kit, and a compartment at the top for sandwiches, books, small brolly, Also room for a larger 2/300mm lens.

Its black with green inserts, you can get yellow too.

Cannot fault it i really cant, can wear it as a backpack or ad another strap provided and carry it as a sling.

also an amazing £35 delivered next day.

Looks like thats the way to go Keith, I understand they are in Banbury, I think I will try to find them when we visit Upton House and have a look at the full range. Glad you're sorted and happy.

I use a lowepro slingshot. For me, there are different advantages too, but since you're a stealther, I assume that there's been many times where you could have had a great shot, if only it had taken 10 seconds less to get your gear out of your bag, when you weren't expecting to take any shots just yet. The slingshot is great for quick, easy access to your camera.

Thanks Ken. Its a great bag it really is. Do have a look at the range as they are quality made too.

Thats what i like about the Redsnapper, if i need to use it as a sling, i can put another strap on it, (supplied) and turn it into a sling.
