mine are turning out like this for some reason.

i love the bright whites and blacks in the links. my photos just dont look the same. even though they are fairly long exposures!!

crap setting i know but hey, i was just experimenting.

any help would be grateful.

I'll move this to talk photography as it isn't really landscapes for crit :)

The first pic you linked to has exif and was taken on a compact camera. that camera was probably modified for IR by removing the internal filter.

I've given up on IR as my camera is just not sensitive enough. Different camera models and even different lenses vary in sensitivity to IR. There are a lot of web sites dedicated to IR and all the implications. I don't have links to hand but I'm sure someone will.

As Robert say's, the D60 has an IR filter over its sensor which blocks IR, so whilst the cokin IR filter blocks visible light but allows IR light to pass through it, its not getting on to the sensor, at least not much of it is..

Try messing about with the levels or curves tool in photoshop / the gimp or whatever you use. IR images can often come out a bit flat, but you can add a lot of contrast in the way you process them.
