Help needed with Kenko Automatic Extension set (Nikon) and AF-S lenses

Just got myself a brand new set of those from eBay (a chap from France who never used them) and this is a non DG version (still a few years old only).

Majority of my lenses are either manual or AF-D (screw-driven) and those work fine: TTL metering and AF work very well. The only AF-S lens I have at the moment is Nikon 17-35 f/2.8 (I know - not something I would generally use with extension tubes). I tried that lens with tubes for the purpose of testing and the AF does not seem to work at all (TTL works fine).

I dug up tons of different info but none really clear. Some say the AF-S works (even VR) and some say it does not. I have not got any other AFS lenses to verify so help from anyone out there using Kenko extension tubes with AFS lenses with working AF would be great. I want to check if there is any differences with my Kenko and the working one : like the number and placement of electrical contacts. A photos of both sides of the AFS working extension ring clearly showing the electrical contacts would be of enormous help.

Thanks

af-s works on all the lenses I'd use an extension tube for, I haven't tried my 17-35 as I'd never use it on there

edit: just to add VR also works fine

Thanks for the reply.

Are your tubes DG version (not sure if that makes any difference)? Would you mind to take photos of one of the tubes from both ends of the tube and send them to me pls?

Edit: I know about 17-35 but its the only AFS I got (the rest of mine are AFDs).

Mine is the DG version and they have 7 pins

It doesn't work on my 17-35 either though it works on all my primes and longer zooms olds and new

Cheers Kevin,

Looks exactly like mine (except DG word), same number of pins and layout. May be it has something to do with the lens then - I'll try to get some other AFS primes and zooms to try.

Thanks for all the help.
