Help needed

Can anyone help please

I have an Err99 on my camera, I've tried everything, cleaning the contacts, firmware update etc but to no avail.

The issue I have is that I have a football tournament to shoot on Sunday and now no camera. Is there anywhere at this short notice I can hire a 40D body or above or can any kind soul lend me theirs (cheeky cow I know but I'm desperate)

Panic over, I have managed to borrow a 5D for a wedding tomorrow and that's going to be sufficient for football Sunday I've been told

Trouble is err99 is a generic error message, it can mean just about anything. It's often a problem with communication between the lens and body (hence cleaning the contacts). It could be a faulty lens, though I assume you tried a different lens and got the same message? It's worth taking the batteries out of the body and leaving it for a while for the power to drain completely as a way of resetting it.

Yup - I've been chatting with a camera repair man this morning and he said from what I've said over the phone it may be the shutter. I've tried 3 different lenses, with battery grip, without battery grip, firmware update. Drained the power, recharged the batteries then tried again, you name it, I've tried it!
