Help needed.

I don't know if this is in the right place, if not can one of the mods sort it out for me please.

I want to do some extreme macro photography and to that end I'd like to use my tablet as a live view for my camera, without actually saving the image to the tablet. Can this be done? and if so, how?

Any help would be gratefully received.

What camera have you got? You can tether to tablets if it's got wifi in camera

I have a Nikon D5100, Mark. although there is no built in wifi, according to t'Internet there is a card - a Eye-Fi X2 card that has wifi capability.
Cannot this tethering be done with a usb or hdmi cable or am I talking rubbish?

As long as the Tablet supports USB OTG (on the go), connect the Nikon with a USB cable to the tablet with a USB OTG connector if necessary and use the App DSLR Dashboard. The photo shows my Nikon with the WIFI dongle connected but it will also work using the camera USB cable.

Sorry, I can't seem to remove the duplicate image without removing both copies.

As you have a Nikon I would not recommend the W1a/b wifi connector and ipad connection. It really is time Nikon sorted out the software as DSLR dashboard (not available for Ios) despite being free knocks its socks off

Thank you all for the information. I now have my tablet connected to my camera and have taken photos using DSLR Dashboard. I'm well pleased - thank you all again.

DSLR Dashboard is available for IOS, but not for free, same author. Primarily for wireless, I don't know if this variant has USB support.
