HELP! Nikon D3200 or Nikon D5200

Hello,

I was wondering if I could get some advice from you guys! I'm fairly new to photography world and been using Nikon prosumer camera but now finally saved up for my first DSLR. After surfing online for cameras withing my budget ( £500) I thought of getting Nikon D3200. But after doing some research and reading some reviews I was thinking if it would be better option of purchasing Nikon D3200 and getting additional lens? I know its a good camera for begginer like me but I dont want to be in situation where I'm looking for upgrade after few months. Also what lenses would you recommend?

Your advice would be much appreciated, really struggaling with a decision!

hi there. like you i am new to this photography business and after much internet surfing i bought the d3200. admittedly i didn't have your starting budget but i have been more than impressed with it's performance. i also bought the 55-200 lens to partner the 18-55 kit lens. i reckon if you have £500 to spend buy the d5200 then you won't be wondering if you have made the wrong choice in the long run. better still head off to your local camera shop and have a chat with the staff. the internet is a wonderful thing but you cant beat 1 to 1 service and im sure they will point you in the right direction. good luck with your search. cheers pete

5200 I'd say, you'd be getting a far better feature set. Or you could go for the D90.

As for lenses, it does depend somewhat on what you like to shoot. I would consider a decent Nikon lens for general purpose. The 17-55 f/2.8 is probably the best to get but I would imagine over budget. For a tighter budget the 18-105mm f3.5-5.6G ED VR is probably the best option. If people/portraits are your thing then a 35mm f/1.8G might be a good idea.
