obviously, these are empty casks of some fly, straight opposite, is a narrow river. customer is plagued by flies and i found these in their hundreds in cobwebs on the build'

Looks like a damselfly nymph shed to me also.

an entomologist identified them as mayfly larvae........... oooo'
