Good evening,

I hope it's me being an idiot but I don't think it is. I recently purchased a Nikon Z6ii from Wex along with a 24-200mm Z lens, primarily for woodland photography. Out this morning to shoot the bluebells and use the Focus Shift Shooting mode to get front to back focus. I set the camera to Manual Mode, set Focus Shift to take 20 shots and set on focus width 5, so more than enough and plenty of width, set the the focus to the nearest point with the lens in auto focus but the camera will only take 6 images and then stops.
On reviewing the images only the first one is in focus, the following 5 are mostly out of focus. I have watched several YouTube videos this afternoon and have done everything as instructed. I have even managed to find a Nikon Europe Channel and watched that one and followed it step by step, but still the same.
Any ideas? Camera body fault? Lens fault? Anybody had the same thing.

Many thanks
Simon

It stops when it gets to infinity. 20 is a lot for a landscape scene.

That's the point I am trying to make, it may stop at infinity but nothing is in focus apart from the first image.

For landscape I take 3 shots and stack inphotoshop or Helicon.
I only use FSS for macro.
have you tried different step widths?

F11
The lens does not have a switch for manual/auto focus. It can only be done in camera.

When I check my images only a small part of each image is in focus. S I go along to theend of thes series and work backwards until I find the final image that has a slice in focus.
Have you stacked any and what is the result?

No sir, didn't see the point as only the first image is in focus. Nothing in the following 5 frames is sharp.

You have to be in AF for it to work. F11 has a big depth of field - perhaps one shot is all it needs?
Try your 20 shots again at F4 and choose the ones where you can see a litle part in focus and then stack and see the reult.
