Hi all, I'm hoping someone out there will be able to help mt out.

I have Photoshop Elements 15 running on both my desktop and laptop, the one on my desktop is running fine but just today I found that the one on mt laptop won't save any files it gives an error message not enough RAM. Everything else will function just when I come to save it won't. Both computers are on Win 10 and both run my Lightroom 6.14 fine.

I haven't (to my knowledge) changed anything in the setup but when I launch the preferences performance to check how much RAM is allocated I get a different error message asking for "integers between 8 ans 50 but that message freezes the program and I have to use Task Manager to shut it down.

When I open the window for system in the help box it tells me that it is only allocating 8mb to elements my desktop allocates 3126mb.

I've tried shutdowns and restarts to no avail and before I uninstall it and try to reinstall it I thought I would ask on here. I fear that if I uninstall I may not be able to get it reactivated by Adobe so that is a last resort.

Any help greatly appreciated.

First port of call would be the settings for Photoshop’s scratch disk and ensure your current settings follows Adobes advice.

Adobe Help
Thanks Jas, the settings indicate 861 GB of free drive for the C Drive which is the only drive I have on my laptop, I just defragged and tried again but no go still.

Edit - Preferences - Performance and let us know how much ram is allocated for Photoshop to use.

As I said above only 8mb, not sure why or how I can change it.
The little slider , change Photoshops allocated Ram to around 70% of your total system ram displayed above it. Edit - Preferences- Performance within Photoshop menus.

If it won’t respond then I would try Edit - Purge - all , clear the cache and restart PS.

Just tried this, no option in the dropdown menu to purge. I've exhausted all my options and the crux appears to be that there is only 8mb of RAM allocated to Photoshop and I have no way of changing that so I must try a re-install and hope I can authenticate it.

Just re-installed and still the same I see only 8mb allocated in the system to Photoshop so it must be a system thing but I don't know how to fix it. BTW it won't adjust in that window either.

Thanks Gramps, that has done the trick. You've no idea how much time I had spent running around my laptop menus trying to find a way out of this. What a great Christmas present you have given me. (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)
Glad to have helped Paul :)
