Help please!

We have a six month old daughter and obviously she is the apple of my eye. I want to take photo's of her, but she likes to wiggle and move about. A lot! I have just swapped my NEX 5 for a G2 and lens and am wondering what would be the best combination for taking shots. Most are taken in low(ish) light indoors. I have the 14-42mm kit lens with the G2, but this doesn't seem that good in low light.
Is it worth me investing in new glass (I was thinking the Panny 20mm as it's supposed to be fast) or should I bite the bullet and shell out on a new DSLR?

Any help would be appreciated as I love photographing her!

well you can buy and external flash and learn to use that, or you can shell out on a dslr with nice and fast af which you will need as your little one grows up and begings walking around, theres nothing worse than have a camera that is not upto the job you want it for(not saying the g2 is bad and has slow af as i dont know never used one)

it's amazing as I had a 20d prior to my wife getting pregnant, sold that and bought the NEX, and swapped that for the G2 so I suppose I'm heading back that way!

Edit, I don't want to use any flash if I can get away with it until she's older
 
Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a 20mm. I'm thinking a 550d with 50mm f1.4 may fit the bill...
 
The 20 f1.7 is a real step up from the kit lens and does work well in low light, however a DSLR with a fast lens will outperform it. I reckon that the 550D with 50 f1.4 would be the better option (but it will cost you a fair bit more). If you are ever over this way and would like to try the 20 f1.7 then drop me a PM (I also have a Canon body and 50 f1.4 if you wanted to compare them).

Thanks mate, that's a very decent offer you have made me :thumbs:

I'm looking at reviews now. I reckon I should get £300 for the G2 plus lenses and put that toward the 550 and 50mm
