Help Please

I had this problem once but slightly diffirently. I did fix it but i'm not sure how. I tried putting the flash (transmitter in my case) back on and firing the flash off a few times I had also tried taking the battery out and leaving the camera on for a couple of hours. (a fix i had to do on a leica M8 but i'm not sure if it works on the 7D)

Make sure its not its not in video mode as it wont let you raise the flash up. Also try cleaning the Hotshoe.

I'm sure there will be some better advice in a little bit.
 
Small microswitch on the hotshoe gets stuck down, cocktail stick or similar should do the job
 
It's this one Mark, just lifting the spring bit up should free it
