HELP - Removing filter!!

I bought a Canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM on Tuesday with a Hoya CPL Filter. I've just tried to remove the filter from the lens and can't get it off!

Anyone have any tips for removing stubborn filters without damaging the lens?
 
rubber washing up glove and dont squeeze the filter as it will self-grip in the thread.

Ha, superb that worked a treat! Trying to figure out why I had some bright orange marigolds unused in the flat but they worked a treat and are now a permanent fixture in my camera bag :lol:

nice one.... worse would be getting caught with the gloves "outside" of the kitchen !!! my advice, leave them under the sink :)
