Edit My Images

Hi all.

I have just reformatted my Pc and reinstalled everything. Reinstalling Ps I checked the "Ignore Profile" as last time my whites looked like a creamy yellow colour. That problem is OK now, the white in Ps indeed do look white.

What is new now though, and something I haven't seen before is if I open a black and white jpeg in Windows Photo gallery it looks horribly tinted, a warm sepia tint that I haven't experienced before. BW images on the internet look fine, images in the thumbnails look fine so I'm a bit confused.

How can I fix this? Without suggesting "I need to calibrate my monitor" is there a manual way I can sort this out. I've looked at the Color Management settings but didn't touch or change anything and I've swapped about the 2 colour profiles on my PC (Samsung Syncmaster & Nvidea GForce GTS 250) but this doesn't make a difference.

What's going on? :bang:

You could try delete Prefs file, might fix it

close Photoshop. Then hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and start Photoshop back up. you'll see is a dialog box that pops up asking if you want to delete the existing Preferences file (which it calls the "Settings" file)

To reset Photoshop Preferences to the defaults, click Yes in the dialog box. The existing Preferences file will be scrapped and a brand new one will be created.

Thanks Dave. The problem isn't with Ps, Ps is fine it's the Samsung colour profile that was whack. It meant opening BW JPEG's with Window Photo Gallery was completely agog.

I have now fixed it by deleting the Samsung Color Profile from Windows. I did this by going to ...

Control Panel > Hardware + Sound > Color Management

Check the box "Use my settings for this device", then in the "Profiles associated with this device" dialogue box click on the profile (Samsung) and then click "Remove". Restart the PC.

The problem is now solved, thank you.:lol::bonk::shrug:
