Forget about how much you would need to learn or not (some pick it up quickly, others don't) if the end result is going on eBay I wouldn't waste the money, time or effort on a DSLR.
I take some half decent product shots when selling items but once posted to eBay they look nowhere near as good (or big). They look better than 99% of the photos on eBay because alot of people take them with their phone in a poorly lit lounge.
