I have had a request from a customer that he wants one of my pictures printing at 10x8, this I said would not be a problem until he said he wanted it for his workshop wall at 10 foot by 8 foot.
Now a few questions.

Where do I get it printed?

How much would I be looking at charging?

What will I need to do to the image to get it to print at this size?

Would I be better off just selling him the image and let him worry about getting printed?

****!

erm, can only find 192x144cm (6'3" x 4'9") with my supplier and that would cost £380 inc delivery(£60) just to buy the canvas without profit :/

no idea matey, good luck lol :)

I would send a message to Petemc, he has had very large prints produced.

The one I am thinking of is on a restaurant wall.

I am sure he will be able to point you in the right direction.

I think thats probably the only way your going to get a print that big. Id say you would struggle to hold detail on a print that size aswell, pixelation would become a somewhat difficult issue to get round prehaps

Here is a link to Petes Liverpool panorama thread.

I have seen this in the flesh and and its pretty awesome.

Have you asked Lee @ Togsprint? He might know someone if he can't do it himself

What do you want it printed/mounted on would be the first question.

As for pixelation you can get a programme called genuine fractals (from OnOne software) that allows you to upsize the file. You can also do it in many small increments in photoshop. At least it would minimise any pixelation.

There will be commercial printers out there somewhere who can do it.

Just made a phone call to a company on Birmingham who has given some advice regarding this.

First one was to try and talk my client into reducing the size of the print

Apparently the medium they print on comes in 8'x5' so to go 10'x8' means using two lots then cutting and joining, but will obviously double the price of the print for the sake of a couple of feet.

Tbh I think this will be the way he'll go but we'll see.

Will be interesting to see the finished article too. Keep us postERed.

Run it on a Lambda? Try these guys: http://www.typecreative.com Talk to Dave there.

They have run some very long images (16 ft plus) in the past for me for exhibitions - not sure of the width they can do though. Its photographic so a pure image.

Hi there

what sort of media are you wanting this printed on? If you send me a PM with some details, I maybe able to assist :)

Surprisingly pixellation and file size doesn't appear to be a problem when printing these big prints. One of mine was printed at 5m x 3m from a 2.5mb file and it looked ok, even relatively close up. I don't know how it was done though.

clever software.
my mrs bought some from focus.
they were printing a 44x100 (inch) print from a small original file.
something to do with recognising patterns and algorithms in the original, and basicly filling in the blanks.
and of course , you dont view a wall size print from two feet away, anyway.

any luck with the original request then?
