Can anyone help me with our rugby club's website please. I need to add a Social Page but don't know how to do it. Has anyone else got a Joomla site and can help. I've looked through help files etc but I need a guide for dummies really. Our webmaster seems to be ignoring me.

Getting really fed up now :(

what do you mean by new page? do you mean a new article?
if so then you can go to article manager and add one there. you can then choose to publish it and whether to publish it on the front page or not..
post us the link to the site

No I mean a whole new section ie Social Page and showing in the home menu on the left hand side: www.vigorfc.net

Here goes:

In the administration screen* go to Content > Section Manager
Create a new section by clicking the New button
Enter the name of your section and also if you want it public or registered access. At this stage just put minimal information in an save.
Once saved click on the new section and you will get the edit screen with more options.
On the right hand side you will see 'Link to menu'
Sandard format on a joomla site is the menu on the left is 'mainmenu' but you can use the menu manager in the admin control panel to check this. Highlight the menu in the list, the from the drop down select how you wish the section to appear. List just does a list of all the items in the section, blog allows some (or all) of each item to be displayed on the page (Sounds best for a social section!)
Finally in Menu Item Name type what you want it to show as in the menu
Click Link to Menu and you are done!

You will then need to add catagories to your section and fill it with articles.
If you are only creating one page you may well be better putting a new catagory in a nexisting section - you can still use the above instructions to link a catagory to a menu - just create the catagoty in Catagory manager instead!

Sorry if this seems wall of text like - hope it helps and feel free to ask q's.

If you are still stuck, drop me a line, I wil remote desktop your machine, and show you how to do it
