Help with buying a camera please

I know nothing :)

My camera is old and crusty and I need to choose a new one - I would like to spend approx £100.
I have a light tent, and will be taking pictures of glass beads and jewellery but I'm absolutely clueless about cameras and would really appreciate a bit of advice.
I know that it would be preferable to have one that has a manual setting so I can adjust the white balance... and I did read somewhere that some types of digital cameras are better at taking close up images than others

As you can tell I'm not very technicly minded, so could do with something that's pretty user friendly!

Any suggestions or advice will be greatfully received,

Ermmmmm from my experiance Nikon Coolpix and Panasonic Lumix are good digital cameras, but not sure you can get the for £100. :)
 
Thank you I will check out the Coolpix, I found something on the net yesterday suggesting one but the model mentioned was discontinued - I will investigate further!
Thanks for the info, I know this is more of a professional website but I don't trust the camera shop dudes they have too many special offers to push!

Deffo do your research as your right they will try to sell you anything.
 
Ixus 130 you can get them for about £115 good all round compact
check out argos clearance and argos outlet on ebay and save some ££££'s
 
The Canon IXUS 130 for £115 is a good price for a very good camera..
