hey,
im really into my editing, and usually get the material provided to me to edit, sounds strange i know, i have come familiar with many techniques used when shooting film and want to start shooting my own film, i have been unable to do this in the past due to not being able to afford a decent camera.
Anyway, i want to shoot film in this sort of fashion:

and would like any help as to what camera would be best for this, i believe the camera used in the video above was a canon 5d mark2, which a little out of my price range, but i dont want a simple point and shoot, i want to be able to change the iso and focus on different areas of the shot, if that makes sense.
thanks for any help.
Jamie

Canon 550d? Supposed to be excellent for video. You'd need to choose the right sort of lens for the effects you want as well.

Although if you want to shoot video maybe a Camcorder is a better bet?

The work being produced using DSLRs as HD video has blown away anything I've seen taken with a camcorder..

Jamie.. have a look through the blog/site of Vincent Laforet as it seems to be the go-to resource for DSLR HD video. He covers hardware (with a Canon bias), software and processing techniques (colour grading, etc).

For video the order of choice seems to be 1Div, 5Dii, 7D, 550D. There's some good videos on vimeo, flickr and youtube taken with all of these. Don't watch this one unless you want to set your heart on a 1Div.. or this one for a 5Dii.

The 550D or 7D would both be less than the 5Dii and leave something for some decent glass.

You need to remember the software for the fully polished effect.. and you need a good PC to cope with the size of files produced.
