Yes
Purchased a JJC TM Series remote shutter release from the classifieds but can't for the hell of me get it to work on my Canon 30D

I've downloaded the manual from www.jjc.cc and pretty much sure I'm doing everything right the the remote will not release the shutter

There is communication between the remote and the camera as the AF works before the shuuter should release. Also if I put the camera in auto mode indoors it even pops the flash up

All I do with my remote is plug it in and press the shutter (on remote) button - I've a genuine Canon one (on a 40D) and the initial press activates the focus etc and when pushed fully home, the shutter fires.

With the genuine Canon one there is only 1 way to insert the plug into the body...

If this is the same for your switch then the only thing I can think is it's a faulty switch ?

Hope this is of some help...

Think your right, must be a faulty switch

Before you condemn it, a question.

Have you got focus set on the back button?....if so, it won't work.

A quick test....stick the lens in MF and try the trigger....work okay?...if yes, change focus back to the shutter button when using the trigger.

Didn't know that Bob,

Will remember for future, cheers :-)

Sure I tried MF before but just tried it again to double check and still nothing.

I think I've pretty much tried each seting on the camera and changed the lens just in case it was that but still not releasing shutter. I've not got another camera to test on either.

Just an update, changed batteries, fully charged Canon battery etc etc etc still no joy

Postman just delivered cheap basic shutter realease I order from China weeks ago and that works fine

Thats good news - at least you know the problem is with the other remote, rather than a body issue
