Help with Dreamweaver template

Basically I've got a 10x960px block of colour that I repeat on the X-axis for my background, and I've used it on my template, but whenever I create a page from that template, the background disappears. Could anyone tell me why?
 
Where is the image linked to?

My guess is that you have created the template in a folder and linked the image, created the pages from the template and saved them in a different location so the image is no longer linked correctly.

easiest way to overcome this... add images to an images folder in the main root of the site (where index.html is)

then link to it on all your pages by simply using ../images/filename.jpg as the source link.

Do this with all your images and it will make it sa lot easier to make changes in the future.
 
It would be easier to create a CSS file using the "background" property to control the image / color / etc,... That way instead of having to work off a standardized template you can link to the external style sheet. That way, when you have 22 pages to update a border color on you only have to do it once, in one file.

Without seeing your code, we can only guess what the issue might be.
A link to your site or a copy of your HTML code would be needed to help you further
 
My appologies, forgot you were talking about bg images here... King Boru is correct on this.

body {
background-color: #FFFFFF; (or any colour you want here)
background-image: url("imagename.jpg");
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}

thanks for the replies.

the CSS for the body has the background file repeated on the x axis, and the file is rested in an 'images' folder in the root. the pages are then created in the root and obviously because i'm creating from a template, i can't edit the CSS of anything other than my editable regions. it's driving me mad.
 
Are you putting the css in a seperate file i.e. 'stylesheet.css' then linking it to all of the pages you create using the code <link href="stylesheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
