help with flash

I am only using the flash that is built in with my camera and I am struggling.

I need to buy a macro flash can any one recommend anything. I was looking at the sigma ring flash or a twin head flash. If the ring flash will do the job perfectly then that is fine but I dont want to waste my money

I use the sigma ring flash - works very well - can show you example pics if interested.
 
careful with the limiting filter sizes these can be used with. my 150mm is 72mm thread and as far as i know its only the Sigma and canon ones that can accomadate it.
