help with IE8 please

hi everyone

i've got a 5yr old vaio running 32bit windows xp. recently i installed service pack 3 for the xp and upgraded to IE8.

now for the last few months i've had problems loading webpages - it has never been specific as in particular webpages just random. tried mozilla etc. and no joy.

it has now become progressively worse where i can hardly download anything. i have kaspersky antivirus which is up to date.

pls can anyone possibly shed any light as to what maybe going on?

Have you tried stopping kaspersky?

I've found that a lot of antivirus programs now check webpages before allowing them to download and it can be very slow.

i have tried this and a few pages have loaded straightaway however, some pages still won't load like say amazon, where as before it did - and thats without the anti virus being in place. getting to the point where i just want to dump the damn pc.
