help with image quality

have used a 100-400 lens and had no problems editing my pics on TP.Had a new canon 300f2.8 lens and viewing my pics no problem ,sharpened them to edit them on TP and they suddenly looked way oversharpened although they looked fine before i downloaded them.So unsharpened them to see if there would be any differnce and uploaded them on TP again and the image looks like there are little dots all along the edges and i can see pixels in the background even with no sharpening it seems strange to me that it is happening with this lens should i have the sharpening on camera totally off could it be that any help would be very much appreciated

If you over sharpen an image, and then try to unsharpen it, the quality will be worse. Most people will recommend to leave sharpening off in the camera, and sharpen in a post process as this will give the most control. Also the amount of sharpening required depends on what the final image will be resized and out put to.

but have tried an image and have not sharpened it have uploaded it to the TP forum and i have little dots round the image

you will never guess i must have been havin a right dumb moment i just upped the image quaility before i convert and saved and it as worked im an idiot but thanks very much for trying to help me it was much appreciated
