Hi folks.

Today I noticed a little hair on my sensor mirror through the viewfinder...so I took the lens of and blew into it.

Now my images are quite soft where they would usually be sharp...

Does anyone have any experience of this and advice?

The only 2 things i can think of are.

Something got on to your sensor, or something been knock within the prisim, causing it not to focus proberly.

Your best bet is to have it looked at by a repairer.

If you can see marks in the viewfinder, it's on the focusing screen, probably underneath, above the mirror.

Anything on or in the lens, or mirror, is not visible through the viewinder and won't appear in photos.

If you get marks on your photos, it's dirt on the sensor and is usually only noticeable at high f/numbers with a plain background, eg sky.

Left the lens off for about 10mins after I suspected condensation...it was and it's fine now :)

Thanks for your efforts.

I was going to suggest condensation from your breath as the reason for soft images (I believe in ye olde days photographers used to deliberately breathe on their lens front element to get a soft focus effect :)). Glad you sorted it out.

Avoid blowing in your camera and get yourself a rocket blower instead (and pump it a few times away from the camera each time before use to empty it of any dust).

i had a similar mishap with a 300d a good few years ago where it was struggling to focus and that turned out to be condensation on the mirror
it's gets a bit worrying at the time

glad it turned out not to be terminal

I had an hair on the imaging screen, so i decided to clean it with a cloth and my finger, finger came off the the cloth and scratched the screen, camera now having a new screen LESSON LEARNT. :nono::bang:
