help with lens

my telephoto 70-300mm when fuly extended shows ERROR when photo is taken,reduce it slightly and it is ok,
make tamron,telemacro 1:2-af 70-300,any help would be appreciated,:bang:
 
Normally there is an error code when things go wrong. If you know what the error code is we may be able to help a little more.

If it comes up with Err 99, I'm pretty sure that with a Canon that's a "general error" as the camera doesn't actually know what's wrong. Many lens/body errors can be cured by cleaning the contacts on both parts.

In which case I would start by making sure all the contacts are clean. I take it you have no issues with any other lens at the same aperture ?

my other lens is ok no probs just the tele macro,and this is the lens i use when shooting grasstrack racing

i tried the lens on another 350d and it still came up error 99,cleaned the contacts on the lens but no change
 
Well it sounds like the lens needs looking at. I don't know if anyone on here can point at what "Err 20" actually relates to. I would consider sending it away to be sorted, but try and find out what the cost would be first.
