Help with RAW conversion

I'm running Photoshop CS V8.0 at the mo and shooting with the a Canon
400D

Just been down the beach with the offspring thinking I will have a play around with shooting in RAW as I’m all new to it.

Got back home, and I can’t view them, it shows on the CF card as a *.CR2 file but Photoshop wont recognise the file format.

Any help would be appreciated.

CR2 are canons RAW files, CS should recognise it, have you got all the updates?

Where would i get the updates then?

All new to this Photoshop

under the help menu (in CS) click on updates, I'm pretty sure CS has camera raw converter but I could be wrong, let me know if it works

Bit off subject as it's not about photoshop, but have you got all the software etc you recieved with the 400D? There is a disc in there which has 'Digital Photo Professional' on it, that will work fine.

I use it myself because my computer doesen't seem to like photoshop CS2. It's REALLY easy to use, runs quick, has simple layout and you can batch process which makes life far easier when you don't have time to sit and convert all 200 photo's you've taken into JPEG's.
