HELP WITH SNAPPING

Hello all (im new!)
Ive just bought a Fuji finepix z70, the latest in the finepix family, having just been released.

Prior to this i had the fuji finepix z5 and what i loved about this was the ability to 'capture moments'. You could half press the shutter button so you were ready to capture EXACTLY what you'd just seen on your screen (then press fully once you had your image), so your mates laughing (or being stupid) or in particular a good function to have with babies around.

I find now, with the z70 that it has a red eye reduction feature (great) which means it flashes a few times before taking a picture. What it means is the image i see on my screen is NOT what gets captured, it takes the pic a few seconds after- by which point your mates have seen all the flashes, wised up and stopped being silly. (im getting a lot of pics of my mates looking at me like 'what are you doing!!?')

It may sound a bit trivial but i loved to just 'snap' and my pics arent half as fun now.

Does anyone have any suggestions- or is this just a feature of all modern compacts now?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

hi there, shifting to the talk equipment section :)

I've no experience with the camera mentioned, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't turn the red eye reduction feature off.

Can you not switch the red eye reduction feature off? If you can, try it and it may behave like your former camera.
