i own an alpha a200 and at the moment i have the standard kit lens 18-70 3.5-5.6 and a zoom lens - minolta 75-300 4.5-5.6

i was after a couple of lenses. one being a portrait lens, hence the Sony 50mm f1.8 SAM Lens and im also asking for some advise on a wide angle lens.

i dont want to spend a fortune hence the sony 50mm being a good price

can anyone whos got the prime lens tell me if its any good and could someone give me some buying advice or recommend me a wide angle lens

any help or advice will be much appreciated

:D:thumbs:

i have the minolta 50mm f1.7 and can say its really good and one of the classics, but i would spend the extra and buy the sony 50mm f1.8 because the IQ is outstanding for its price and theres no CA's and little vignetting.

What's the budget for both lenses? I could reel off a few wide angle

Wide Angle

Tamron/Sony 11-18
Sigma 10-20
Tokina 11-16 - to be released
Tamron 17-35
CZ 16-35
Sigma 12-24
Sigma 8-16- to be released
Sony/Min 20mm
Sony fisheye 16mm

how wide do you need it, if its only like 35mm then you could get the 30mm f2.8 macro aswell. if you need it wider then you can probably get the sony 11-18mm that are really cheap now as stock is being depleted (possibly a new lens coming out)

yeah just cheapies. cheers for the list of lenses. going to look at prices now :D

Mifsuds have a s/h Minolta 50 F1.7 for £79.

& LCE have a s/h Minolta 28mm F2.8 for £74.99
