Firstly I would like to say I understand the rules for the classifieds and except them. I think they are right and serve a purpose.

But
Being a complete newb and not even owning a camera. I am struggling for things to say.
I am capable of using the search feature and so far have managed to find the answer to every question I have. Which is brilliant!!!!!
I am in the Market for a camera and don't have a lot of money so second hand is the route I am going. And I think buying off someone one a forum like this I would feel a lot more comfortable.
I know everyone has to start somewhere so just wondering how everyone else managed it without saying "nice shot" 100 times. I'm not moaning I think it is brilliant to have such a wealth of knowledge.
 
For the time being, there are plenty of used equipment dealers for you to acquire kit from. Check the stickies in this forum. You also get the added benefit of some sort of warranty too. If I were in your position, I wouldn't be solely focusing on the classifieds sections on TP.
 
Ask questions.

  • What's best for ......
  • How did you get the photo to look like that?
  • How can I ......
  • Which camera for me as I ......

Offer your thoughts on pictures posted, you may not be able to comment on everything, who can, but you can explain what you like about it etc.

Does that give you some ideas?

Look through the pictures until you find one you like and ask how it was created. If there is a certain thing you think you'd like to photograph, ask what equipment might be best for you.
If you arent sure what someone means when they say a certain phrase, just ask.

If you see someone asking for crit on a picture, tell them what you think. You dont have to be an expert photographer to have an opinion on a photograph.
 
just by its very nature, photography is subjective, i have posted photos on here that are technically crap, but they work for me and they work for some others, i have also posted on photos that work for me explaining why they rock my boat, don't be afraid to say if you like something, but tell the original poster why
